DSI Hemostatic Sponge is a pure pharmaceutical gelatin-based absorbable, pliable, coherent, porous sponge-like material.
The sponge protects the wound bed, controls bleeding, speeds up healing, and reduces the risk of postoperative complications. The DSI Hemostatic Sponge is appropriate for a wide range of surgical procedures, particularly when conventional hemostatic measures are ineffective or inappropriate. When DSI Hemostatic Sponge comes into contact with blood, it affects the coagulation cascade in addition to acting as a mechanical barrier. Collagen stimulates platelet adhesion and activation. Platelets adhere quickly, spread, become activated, and begin to form a coagulum.
DSI Hemostatic Sponge also serves as a matrix for strengthening the blood clot. DSI Hemostatic Sponge decreases overall surgery time, accelerates recovery, and facilitates successful procedure outcome.
