DSI PTFE Sutures are made of Polytetrafluoroethylene. PTFE is a synthetic polymer also known by the brand name Teflon. The sutures are known for their biocompatibility, inertness, and low coefficient of friction.
They are non-reactive, meaning they do not elicit a significant immune response in the body. They are chemically inert and do not react with body tissues or fluids. This reduces the risk of inflammation, infection, and tissue damage.
PTFE sutures have a very low friction coefficient, which means they slide easily through tissues during suturing. This can make the suturing process smoother and reduce trauma to the surrounding tissues. These sutures are completely biocompatible, and they are well tolerated by the body and do not provoke an adverse reaction.
PTFE sutures are non-absorbable, instead, they remain in place, providing long-term support to the healing tissues. It makes them perfectly suitable for applications where long-term wound support is required.
Indications:
Oral mucosal closure
Alveolar bone grafting
Jaw reconstruction
Dental and maxillofacial surgery
General surgery
Plastic surgery
Cardiovascular surgery
Orthopedic surgery
Features & Benefits:
Made from medical-grade polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) - Ensuring compatibility with biological tissues and minimizing the risk of adverse reactions.
Non-reactive - PTFE's inert nature reduces tissue irritation and inflammation, promoting optimal healing and minimizing the risk of complications.
Low coefficient of friction - PTFE sutures glide smoothly through tissues, facilitating precise and efficient suturing while reducing tissue trauma.
Non-absorbable - Provide long-term support to healing tissues as they are not absorbed by the body, maintaining wound closure integrity over time.
Versatility - Suitable for a wide range of surgical specialties and procedures, including cardiovascular, ophthalmic, plastic, orthopedic, and general surgery.
Sterilize packaging - Each suture is individually packaged and sterilized to ensure compliance with medical standards and reduce the risk of surgical site infections.
New needle - Equipped with a new improved atraumatic needle for less friction and tissue irritation.
